ABOUT OUR DANCE IN SCHOOLS PROGRAMMES
FLATFOOT’s mission is to support the growth of both dance skills and training in KZN and to offer quality professional dance work that tours to schools. Annually, FLATFOOT engages schools by offering workshops and master classes, and also by offering a touring performance that can be performed in almost any environment. We understand that not all learners can come to a city theatre space so we come to you!

PERFORMANCE
For our 2024 touring schools performance, FLATFOOT has created a new work called “BUSY BEING BLUE”. In a fluid display of exquisite contemporary dance, FLATFOOT’s 6 resident dancers dive into the head and heart of the blues – a nod to some great blues and jazz music, but also to the inner life of struggle and our desperate (and beautiful) fight to be present in this life.
Durations: 50mins (we need 1 hr prior to set-up)
After show discussion with the dancers: 15mins
WORKSHOPS
FLATFOOT has a series of workshops that we can offer to your school for 2024. All the workshops are team-taught by the FLATFOOT dancers and include:
- Contemporary Dance Technique – FLATFOOT’s African release technique
- African Dance: Rural to Urban
- Using Laban’s principles to generate choreography
- Help with the dance/movement in your theme programme
